Narwhal ( Monodon monoceros ) detection by infrared flukeprints from aerial survey imagery

چکیده

Visual and observer aerial surveys are important for monitoring wildlife populations but subject to visibility biases where animals may go undetected. The use of infrared technology in has the potential reduce biases, both when recording data retrospective processing footage, thus complements visible wavelength photography. We used video during marine mammal high-Arctic indirectly detected narwhal (Monodon monoceros) via their thermal flukeprints (i.e., thermo-stratified water mixing from fluke strokes). This novel indicator persisted a longer duration than animal was at water's surface, which likely improved probability an being observed by increasing its detectability. Using complement photographic assist whales, especially remote areas. Our results highlight how be develop automatic detection remote-monitoring methodology.

Vehicle Detection From Aerial Imagery

This paper presents a new technique for vehicle detection from aerial imagery. The proposed technique is simple but more effective than some of the existing techniques reported earlier. This research involves an overall cascade system that concentrates on vehicle detection mainly in rural and dense environments. This research uses and compares between certain feature extraction techniques and s...

Automatic Pavement Crack Detection Based on Aerial Imagery

Road health information is an important indicator for assessing the status of the road in management systems. Identifying the abandonment of surfaces is an important process in maintaining roads and traffic safety, which is traditionally conducted on the basis of field surveys. Today, remote sensing methods, especially photogrammetric imaging, are presented. In this article, based on by UAVs im...

Detection of Single Standing Dead Trees from Aerial Color Infrared Imagery by Segmentation with Shape and Intensity Priors

Standing dead trees, known as snags, are an essential factor in maintaining biodiversity in forest ecosystems. Combined with their role as carbon sinks, this makes for a compelling reason to study their spatial distribution. This paper presents an integrated method to detect and delineate individual dead tree crowns from color infrared aerial imagery. Our approach consists of two steps which in...

Spatio-temporal Road Detection from Aerial Imagery using CNNs

The main goal of this paper is to detect roads from aerial imagery recorded by drones. To achieve this, we propose a modification of SegNet, a deep fully convolutional neural network for image segmentation. In order to train this neural network, we have put together a database containing videos of roads from the point of view of a small commercial drone. Additionally, we have developed an image...

Zebra Crossing Detection from Aerial Imagery Across Countries

We propose a data driven approach to detect zebra crossings in aerial imagery. The system automatically learns an appearance model from available geospatial data for an examined region. HOG as well as LBPH features, in combination with a SVM, yield state of the art detection results on different datasets. We also use this classifier across datasets obtained from different countries, to facilita...
